Custom Magnets — Printed Straight onto the Magnet, Cut to Any Shape, Made in Toronto

A magnet is the one piece of print nobody throws out. A business card goes in a drawer; a magnet goes on the fridge and stays there, with your number, your logo or your artwork in the kitchen for years. Ours are printed directly onto the magnet — there's no vinyl sticker laminated to a magnetic backing, so there's no edge to lift at the corners — and cut to whatever shape you send us. That's the reason to order these rather than buying blank magnets and stickers and doing it yourself.

How we make them

Each order starts as a sheet of 20 pt flexible magnet, about half a millimetre thick. It bends without creasing and sits flat against a fridge door. We print your artwork onto the magnet itself with UV inks: the ink is cured hard by UV light as it prints, so it bonds to the surface rather than sitting on top of it, and you can feel a slight texture where the ink is. The ink and the magnet are both matte. No glare under kitchen lights, no reflection on a car door in the sun.

Then the sheet goes to the cutter and we follow your outline — a circle, a rounded rectangle, or the shape of the artwork itself. Nothing to assemble, nothing to peel. It's a magnet when it leaves here.

Sizes

Presets at 2" × 2", 3" × 3" and 4" × 4". Custom Size takes anything up to 24" × 48" — a menu-board magnet, a panel for a work van. Price follows size and quantity: at 2" × 2", the per-magnet price at 250 is less than half of what it is at 50, which is why souvenir shops and restaurants order by the 250 and the 1,000.

You can put up to 4 different designs in one order and split the quantity between them however you like — 100 / 100 / 25 / 25 is fine. The order is priced at the largest size in the batch.

What these magnets are good at, and what they aren't

Good at: fridges, filing cabinets, lockers, whiteboards, steel doors, toolboxes — any clean, flat steel surface. Each one holds itself and a few sheets of paper. They're waterproof and fade-resistant, so a mailbox or a car door is fine. On a vehicle, use a clean, flat panel: wash it, press the magnet on flat, and lift it off and wipe underneath now and then so grit doesn't collect behind it.

Worth knowing: they're rated to 69 °C (156 °F). A fridge, a car door in July, a mailbox — fine. An oven door, a radiator, a dishwasher — no. And a magnet only sticks to magnetic steel. Plenty of stainless-steel fridge doors aren't; if a magnet you already own won't hold on yours, ours won't either, so test before you order 500 for a giveaway. Curved or textured surfaces reduce the hold, because the magnet grips on contact area.

The artwork mistake we see most

Small text. Anything under 12 pt on a magnet — a phone number, an address line, the fine print under a logo — turns into a grey smudge at arm's length across a kitchen, and the matte surface softens it a little more. Two fixes. Set every line of text at 12 pt or larger and cut words rather than shrinking type: "Call 416-555-0100" reads; "Call us today for a free estimate at 416-555-0100" doesn't. Or go up a size: a 3" × 3" magnet costs about 40% more than a 2" × 2" at 50 pieces and gives you more than twice the area for the same phone number. We flag small type in the proof before anything prints.

Who orders them

Artists, first. A magnet is the cheapest way to sell a print of a painting or an illustration, and it goes on the buyer's fridge rather than into a folder — "Ordered some magnets with my art on them! They are nice and bright!" is a review on this page. Restaurants and takeout counters: the menu, the phone number, the hours, on the door where people decide what to eat. Trades and small businesses — a plumber's number is only useful if it's on the fridge the night the pipe goes. And souvenir shops: city, landmark and cottage-country designs, reordered by the 250 and the 1,000 because they sell through.

Is there a minimum order? No. Choose Custom Quantity and enter 1 if that's what you need.

Will they stick to my stainless-steel fridge? Only if the door is magnetic — many stainless doors aren't. Test it with any fridge magnet first.

Can I use them on my car? Yes, on a clean, flat metal panel. Press the magnet on flat, and lift and wipe it periodically. They're waterproof and rated to 69 °C.

How thick are they? 20 pt — about 0.5 mm. They bend without creasing and lie flat.

Can I mix designs in one order? Yes, up to 4 designs, split any way you like. The order is priced at the largest size.

Do you print photos? Yes. Full colour, printed directly on the magnet, from a single photo magnet up.

How big can you go? Up to 24" × 48" under Custom Size.

Is the print on both sides? No — the back is the magnet. Artwork is printed on the front.
